When I was seven, I told my parents I was going to live in a log cabin and be an author when I grew up. My little house would not be on the prairie, but rather on the coast of Maine. (I wanted to be Laura Ingalls, but with ocean views.) Somewhere along the way I decided a business degree might pay better, and, having obtained said degree, I spent 20+ years analyzing and writing research reports and articles on technology and telecom.
A few years later (okay, forty-odd years later – sheesh!) I'm revisiting that childhood dream. My latest novel, The Strength of the Pack, is the first in the High Desert Mystery Series, set in my adopted home of Southern New Mexico.
The series features Emerson Thayer, a detective with the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office. Em’s not perfect, but what she sometimes lacks in good judgement, she makes up for with heart and a stubborn determination to nail the bad guys. Em will do just about anything to help her loved ones--even if that means bending the rules. Cuz let's be honest: some laws deserve to be broken.
